Australia ripe for smart phone payments growth: MasterCard.
Paying for things by waving a smart phone or other device is poised to take off in the coming years, as consumers are offered new features enticing them to shift to mobile payments, MasterCard predicts.

Consumers will also be able to make payments using voice-based personal assistants, through social messaging apps, or “augmented reality” programs over the coming years, says Garry Lyons, chief innovation officer of the US-listed payments giant.

Cash still king as digital payments inch up slowly.
CHENNAI: If demonetisation was a push for a cashless economy, it has been working very slowly.
