Mastercard® Priceless® Munich with star pianist Lang Lang

300 Mastercard guests enjoyed a priceless experience at a private concert by the Chinese pianist Lang Lang on Sunday, October 22nd in Munich. This exclusive performance as part of the Mastercard Priceless Munich programme was held at a very special location – the Anatomische Anstalt of the University of Munich. Due to the extraordinary design of this historic place – built more than 100 years ago – the audience came closer than ever to the star pianist experiencing a true intimate concert.
Mastercard has a long-standing partnership with Lang Lang and his International Music Foundation. For the private concert, Mastercard had invited 16-year-old George Harliono together with Lang Lang. The young Briton, who has been sponsored by Lang Lang’s Foundation since 2013, already won numerous awards and performs internationally with renowned orchestras and conductors. At the Priceless Munich private concert, he performed with Lang Lang pieces from Tchaikovsky, Satie and Bernstein among others. The event was hosted by Holger Wemhoff, chief presenter of the national radio broadcast station “Klassik Radio”.
In order to win one of the limited tickets for this exclusive performance, Mastercard cardholders had to apply with an extraordinary idea on the Priceless Cities website. Cardholder came up with many great ideas. Among them:
Organise and implement a musical afternoon at a local senior citizens’ centre
Swimming in Munich’s city river Eisbach and whistling Beethoven’s pianoforte sonata in wintertime
Cook Chinese dishes for Munich’s food bank, Münchner Tafel, for a day
Bake a giant cake in the shape of a piano and sell the pieces for a good cause
Visit the children’s department of the district hospital and entertain the
children dressed as musical clowns.

The Priceless Munich jury selected the most creative, charitable and impressive ideas after the submission deadline for the competition had ended.
